Founded in the mid-1960s by Jack Fisher, an enthusiastic diver in need of an underwater metal detector for a salvage project, the company has a rich history. Jack developed and manufactured his own underwater metal detector to address the lack of available options, eventually expanding the product line to include boat-towed metal detectors and magnetometers in response to customer demand. The addition of underwater cameras allowed customers to visually inspect targets detected by the equipment.

Continuing to innovate, the company developed a range of sonar systems, including scanning sonars and side scan sonars, bringing advanced technology to underwater search operations. Acoustic pingers were introduced to mark the location of underwater sites, while cable trackers were developed to locate buried electrical lines and fiber optic cables.

For more than 55 years, JW Fishers has been dedicated to creating and delivering advanced yet affordable underwater search equipment.
